Welcome to my AIG handbook website! I look forward to serving all of our students here at Lawsonville Elementary School. All of our children, no matter the circumstance, deserve the best possible education that can be provided to them. It is my hope to accomplish this goal in a student-centered classroom environment that will guide our children towards becoming successful and competitive 21st Century learners!
There are a few primary purposes for this website:
I. To inform parents/guardians, students, fellow educators, and advocates about the education of gifted learners.
II. To keep parents/guardians, students, and the community informed about the services available for and provided to our AIG learners.
III. Finally, I intend to update this site frequently as a means of communication and sharing of information that you may find important.
It is my hope that this site serves as a resource that will encourage anyone who visits it to learn more about gifted education and our special population of students. These learners have the potential to solve significant world problems and bring about positives changes with their talents, interests, and skills. Often our gifted learners have advanced and complex cognitive abilities that are not fully understood and unique educational needs that are not appropriately met. These bright minds must be advocated for and served with high-quality teachers, programs, and resources. Gifted learners are as critical and essential to our future as any other group of learners and deserve to be appreciated as such. The video below reveals ten myths and truths of gifted education. If you have the time, watch this insightful video and browse the rest of this site!
